When we decide to plant something, whatever it might be, we do it with great vision of what it can become and then we invest our time and energy to care for it so that it has the best possible opportunity to become all it is meant to be.

Whether we spend our porch time visiting with those sitting with us, sharing a hand wave to neighbors passing by or indulging in the opportunity to share a conversation with neighbors who can stop and chat a while, front porches allow us to connect with each other in a way that we wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to do. It gives us permission to stop and engage with others and get to know them a little more than we did before.

The feelings and experiences of home will be unique to each of us and therefore will be expressed differently. That’s the most beautiful part of all and I invite you to open yourself up to discovering all of the possibilities. What are those simple pleasures or moments that bring you great comfort, make you feel cared for, and leave you with a sense of belonging? Whatever that is for you, I urge you to explore it, cultivate it and fully embrace it!
