Rest, Refresh, Breathe…
Hi friends!
It’s been a little while since I have shared in the journal, but I am hoping I can be a little more regular about connecting with you here on these pages. I hope you have had a wonderful start to the new year! I am looking forward to 2026 but not for any particular reason. I like even numbers so maybe that’s why. But I also have a sense - or maybe it’s just a strong hope - that this year will be a little calmer, a little more restful. Restful in the refreshment, breathing space kind of way. 2025 was a good year. It was busy and very full, but it also brought for me unexplained anxiety in unexpected ways.
Over the past 12 years I have made it a practice at the beginning of each year to listen for a word and verse of the year. This year my word is PEACE, and my verse is “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” - John 14:27 (NIV) I believe that word and verse is in direct response to those momentary anxiety/panic attacks that seemingly arise out of nowhere. At even the slightest hint of any anxious feelings I simply recite my word and verse either silently in my head or out loud if needed. Either way, I feel divinely equipped to tackle and overcome the anxiety that aims to steal my joy and my PEACE. I believe my word and verse aligns so well with that sense of calm and restfulness that I am anticipating and believing for in this new year!
So I am looking forward to 2026 - a year ahead that has a little more space, a little more rest, a little more peace. I am hoping and praying the same for you and your new year ahead too!
Happy New Year!
Michele
